Red Oak Flush-Mount Egg Crate Vents are ventilation grilles designed to sit level with the flooring surface for a seamless and unobtrusive appearance. The term “egg crate” refers to the pattern of slats on the grille, resembling the structure of an egg crate. These grates serve the purpose of allowing air circulation while maintaining a stylish and minimalistic look

Here are some considerations for Self Rimming Egg Crate Wood Floor Vents, Register Covers:

  1. Matching the Flooring:
    • Ensure that the vents match the hardwood flooring for a seamless and cohesive appearance.
  2. Types of Vents:
    • Flush Mount Vents: These vents sit flush with the floor, providing a clean and contemporary look. They have a clean flush look and can be finished to match the floor.
    • Self-Rimming Vents: These vents are designed to sit on top of the flooring, creating a raised effect. They are relatively easy to install and can be a good option for DIY projects. You can check out my Self Rimming Egg Crate Vents here..
  3. Sizes and Styles:
    • Standard Sizes: Vents come in standard sizes, but custom sizes can be ordered to fit specific requirements. Please contact me here.
    • Style Options: Choose a vent style that complements your overall design theme, whether it’s Louvered or egg crate. Self-rimming, flush mount, or wall mounted
  4. Finish and Stain:
    • Pre-finished: I can pre-finish vents with a protective coating, simplifying the installation process. I offer lacquer finish in satin (20 degree) and semi-gloss (40 degree).
    • Unfinished: Opting for unfinished vents allows you to match the stain and finish of your flooring precisely. All of my wood floor vents are sanded the same way as if I were going to finish them. Final sanding is 220 grit.
  5. Maintenance:
    • Cleaning: Wood vents are generally easy to clean. Regular dusting and occasional cleaning with a hardwood floor cleaner should be sufficient.
    • Protection: Consider using furniture pads or other protective measures to prevent scratches or damage to the vents.

Always consult with your flooring provider or a specialist to ensure that the vents you choose are compatible with your specific flooring type and meet any installation requirements. Additionally, be mindful of factors such as airflow efficiency, heavy traffic flow and local building codes that may influence vent placement and design.

I’m hoping someone will find some of the content to be a little useful.
I ordered and received five unfinished 6”x12” return floor vents.
The vents were nicely packaged and in pristine new condition. The order filling and delivery was fast and most affordable, in my opinion.
I am an amateur do it yourselfer with only elementary and high school level training but I am “handy” through experience and consider myself to be meticulous (truthfully, I can drive some people a little nuts).
I was lucky enough to find a stain that closely matched my (Home Depot Canada in store Special Order) 3 4” x 3 3 4” Bruce hardwood flooring, pre finished in Spice Tan.
I used SAMAN Medium Brown 211 Water Based Wood Stain, just one coat.
I followed that with six coats of SAMAN (Gloss) Waterbasd Varnish, very lightly abraded with 180 grit and damp cloth cleaned between each coating.
I am so pleased with the results. To me, it’s very hard to distinguish between it and the Bruce factory finish. I’m not concerned about long term durability because my air returns are in no traffic areas, to begin with.
Installation took some research and a lot of thought but having the right tools really paid off.
Maybe not highly recommended but very effective (I’m sure my old early 80s high school wood shop teachers would loose their kittens at this) but for the cuts I masked the uncut hardwood, accurately measured, and measured, and measured again, then laid out the lines on the masking taped floor pieces as precisely as I could.
Here’s the part where shop teachers will go out of their minds. For extreme care and caution must be exercised. I removed my table saw’s riving knife and lowered the unguarded blade to below the table surface. I positioned and locked the fence with the outermost cutting edge of the blade kerf lining up exactly with side of the line delineating where the cut needed to be.
When all was in place, I started the saw and, very slowly, steadily, and carefully, cranked the spinning blade upwards, through the piece of flooring. I then very carefully back cut to the end of the penciled line and then proceeded to finish the cut in the opposite direction to the penciled line. When this cut was completed, I then removed the fence and used the table saw’s sliding miter guide to squarely cut and remove the pieces that would allow for the vent to be snugly inset. Important note: In an effort to reduce gaps around the edges, I did not try to bring the flooring to the vent. Rather, for the affected rows, once the border frame was fastened in, I used its square edges as the starting point and worked away from it, in both directions.
It’s my first hardwood floor project, ever, and the people I have shown are truly taken with the idea and look of the flush mount vent.

Thanks for everything and I will not hesitate to recommend you to others.

    Sincerely,
    Craig

    Good morning,
I have no criticism produced a nice product at a reasonable time and a reasonable rate. I do think he’s to specify what the finish is if it’s lack of polyurethane etc. If I need your services again I definitely will be giving you a call. I’ll also pass your name on to the full companies that I use. Keep up the great work thanks again.

I am currently running 3 to 7 days for manufacturing. Typically if you order by midnight on Sunday, your order will be ready for shipping on Wednesday or Thursday. If you order by midnight on Wednesday, your order will get shipped on Monday. Times can vary. Occasionally, I can encounter shortages in different species (very rare). I will contact you if there are any supply issues. I ship from Canada, the Niagara Falls area. Shipping times vary from 1 to 5 days based on your location.

Shipping delays are currently affecting all U.S. orders. This issue is due to a significant backlog in customs processing. Custom Agents are extremely understaffed, and the system is temporarily overwhelmed.
The recent removal of the de minimis threshold should not have impacted my shipments, as my orders have always gone through full customs clearance and been approved for next-day delivery (for which I pay a premium). However, this policy change has affected millions of parcels nationwide, creating widespread congestion across the entire system.
I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience as the situation improves.
